SUMMARY:Community Unearthed
DESCRIPTION:Community Unearthed\nPhotography Exhibition | Dacre Hall\, Lanercost | 19–28 June 2026 \nAs part of Echo Festival 2026\, Echo Events Lanercost CIC is proud to present Community Unearthed — a compelling new photography exhibition exploring the people\, places\, and stories that shape life in and around Lanercost. \nCurated by local photographer and filmmaker Thomas Keevil\, who lives and works within the Kin Hill Community in Walton\, the exhibition brings together three distinctive artistic voices. Alongside Keevil’s work\, photographers Molly Matcham and Charlotte Graham offer their own unique perspectives\, each capturing the character of the local landscape and its communities through a deeply personal lens. \nFrom intimate portraits to evocative scenes of rural life\, Community Unearthed reveals the richness and diversity of this corner of Cumbria. The exhibition invites visitors to look closer — to see familiar surroundings anew\, and to reflect on the connections between people\, place\, and shared history. \nAlongside the main exhibition\, we are delighted to feature a special photography project by pupils from Lanercost C of E Primary School. Drawing on archival photographs and local history\, the project offers a younger generation’s perspective on the area\, connecting past and present through thoughtful and creative responses to the landscape they call home. \nThe exhibition opens at 5.30pm on Friday 19 June and runs until 5.00pm on Saturday 28 June. \nThroughout the week\, a welcoming café will be open in Dacre Hall\, with refreshments provided by Echo Eats Pop-Up\, creating a relaxed space for visitors to pause\, reflect\, and enjoy the exhibition. \nSet within the heart of the village\, this exhibition is both a celebration of local talent and a thoughtful exploration of community identity. Whether you live locally or are visiting for the festival\, Community Unearthed offers a meaningful and visually engaging experience at the centre of Echo Festival 2026.

SUMMARY:E L F A / F O L K T R O N I C A
DESCRIPTION:Victoria Macarte (ELFA) will be performing at Lanercost as part of our little Arts and Music Festival on Sunday 21st June. \nELFA performs FOLKTRONICA\, a collection of British folk songs from the future\, accompanied by three analogue synths making noise like a storm on the horizon and pulsating minimal\, greco-roman jungle beats like the nation’s charred post-industrialist heart\, sang through a vocodor distorting a fairy-like voice with demonic undertones as an echo of the unrest festering beneath our beautiful\, bucolic green landscapes.\nSince returning to her native amphibian habitat\, Cumbria\, her work has shifted towards ecofeminist\, spiritual science-fiction to reimagine a future folklore from an alternative reality\, seeking to reconcile the beauty and horror in the world for an ellipsis in time\, and reclaim our bodies\, voices and narratives from hypercapitalist consumer colonial-imperialism. \nWhen she grows up she hopes to become a force of nature. \nAdults £5 admittance All Children free \nBring a Picnic Rug or chair\, your own picnic tea including drinks (BYO). No food/bar available. \nToilets will be open at Dacre Hall. \nTickets – https://www.trybooking.com/uk/GMQV \nhttps://victoriamacarte.com/ \nOriginally from Cumbria and from a dance background\, after training in theatre\, ballet and contemporary dance in some of London’s most prestigious schools\, Victoria went on to study Butoh with a Japanese master and has been based in Catalonia since 2004. Emerging from Barcelona’s underground electronic music and digital arts scene\, after a short but intense period in New York\, she moved to Cadaqués to make her home alongside surrealism and the elements. From this base\, her work immersed itself in the natural environment\, deepened into improvisation and expanded across collaborations in music\, performance\, spoken word\, video and cinema; defined by an aesthetic rather than a medium or discipline. \nhttps://elfasounds.bandcamp.com/music \n
