SUMMARY:Tatterhood - Story and Supper with Ruth Steadman
DESCRIPTION:Tatterhood | A Night of Story and Supper NOW SOLD OUT!!!! NO ADMITTANCE ON THE DOOR!!\nWhat if doing the wrong thing is precisely what’s needed in order to restore life?\nJoin Echo Events and storyteller Ruth Steadman for a night of story and supper at Dacre Hall. We\nwill feast on Venetian cicchetti and the wild old Norwegian tale of Tatterhood as we peel the petals\noff this and other delicious questions.\nRuth grew up in Brampton before moving away for university and work. Following a rich career as\na psychotherapist\, Ruth began apprenticing as a storyteller in the oral tradition just before the\npandemic. Ruth’s pursuit of story has since led her to a tiny heathens’ chapel surrounded by\nsaltmarsh\, a locked down cottage overlooking three stone circles in the Outer Hebrides\, and for the\nlast four years Ruth has lived in Venice\, Italy. She is now bringing one of her favourite stories\nhome. \n  \nhttps://www.trybooking.com/uk/FLUL

SUMMARY:Kenneth Wilson - Pilgrim Cello
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Lanercost Priory on Sunday 7th September\, 3–6pm for a powerful and contemplative performance by Kenneth Wilson\, cellist and poet\, as an addition to his Pilgrim Cello 2025 journey — cycling to all 42 English cathedrals. \n“Meditation on the Seven Last Words of Jesus” blends the transcendent beauty of Bach’s cello suites\, Wilson’s own reflective poetry\, and seven abstract paintings by Gillian Lever\, each capturing one of Jesus’s final sayings from the cross — words of forgiveness\, salvation\, relationship\, abandonment\, distress\, triumph\, and reunion. \nSet in the sacred stillness of Lanercost Priory\, this unique experience invites deep listening and quiet contemplation. A cream tea will be available to purchase during the interval\, and visitors can also enjoy the final day of Christine Boyce’s retrospective exhibition in Dacre Hall — a celebration of stained glass and creative spirit. \n\nTickets £12.00 \nUnder 16’s Free Entry \nhttps://www.trybooking.com/uk/FCXU

This has included but not limited to –  \nLocal folk traditions and stories from West Northumberland and East Cumbria \nRoman mythology and legends linked to Hadrian’s Wall \nGrisly tales of the Border Reivers \nFolkloric creatures and mystical beings \nBotanical folklore and the mythology of native trees and wildflowers \nLandscapes  \n\ngreencroftonthewall.com/…/hadrian’s-wall-art-trail\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Creative Team\n\n\nAbout The Organisations \nThe organisations working together on the Art Trail are Green Croft Arts Ltd\, Field Shelter CIC and Echo Events CIC. In January 2025\, we opened The Threshing Barn as a cultural and wellbeing hub\, situated directly on the line of Hadrian’s Wall between Greenhead and Gilsland\, Northumberland. The Barn hosts classes\, workshops\, and performances\, offering a creative and community-focused space. \nField Shelter CIC \nField Shelter is an artist-led creative studio and project space located near Haltwhistle\, Northumberland\, on Hadrian’s Wall. It is housed in an off-grid building that was formerly a derelict stable. Field Shelter supports experimental\, rural-based contemporary art practices\, exploring alternative methods of making\, researching\, and presenting work within a wild and natural landscape. \nEcho Events CIC \nEcho Events Lanercost CIC is a Community Interest Company (CIC) based in Lanercost\, Cumbria\, that organizes and supports community events. They focus on showcasing local talent\, including artists\, performers\, and schools\, and often incorporate arts\, music\, and spoken word into their events. SUMMARY:Illyria's 'Pride and Prejudice' By Jane Austen
DESCRIPTION:With her tongue firmly in her cheek\, Jane Austen tells us “It is a truth universally acknowledged\, that a single man in possession of a good fortune\, must be in want of a wife.” Mrs Bennet certainly thinks so. So when Mr Bingley – single\, young\, handsome\, and with £5000 a year – moves into nearby Netherfield Park\, she devotes all her energy to contriving for Jane\, the eldest of her five daughters\, to meet him during rural Hertfordshire’s whirlwind of social balls. But even Mrs Bennet draws the line at Mr Bingley’s disdainful friend Mr Darcy despite his whopping £10\,000 a year. Thank heavens Lizzy\, her second daughter\, finds him detestable too! Or does she…? Can she see beyond his pride – and could he overcome her prejudice – to consider a possible future together? \nFollowing seven sell-out seasons of this sparkling adaptation\, award-winning theatre group Illyria (website) returns to celebrate Jane Austen’s 250th birthday in style. Bring a picnic and enjoy her at her vibrant\, forthright\, bitchy best! \nRunning time (approx): 2hr 20min (inc 20 minute interval)\nSuitable for all ages. \nBring your own seating/rug\, suitable clothing and a picnic\nDogs are not permitted. Venue is not wheelchair accessible. \nBOOK TICKETS HERE: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/whats-on/cumbria/naworth-castle/pride-and-prejudice-at-naworth-castle-cumbria/e-koojvm

SUMMARY:Art History Talk - Rafaele Appleby
DESCRIPTION:Rafaele was born into an artistic family\, immersed in a world of paintings and music from a young age. Working in a studio near Hadrian’s Wall\, with views of the Cumbrian fells to the south and a kitchen garden to the north\, Rafaele’s art often draws inspiration from the surrounding nature. The process can be swift and dynamic or slow and meditative\, depending on the subject and mood.  Much of Rafaele’s work revolves around an exploration of color and light. \n“The music or silence that fills the studio is always deliberate\, never by chance. Solitude is essential in the studio\, where the creative process remains deeply personal.” \nWild landscapes are a constant source of inspiration—whether it’s rugged rocks by the sea or settled in ancient stone circles\, crashing waves along remote shorelines\, or the ever-changing sky. Sometimes a delicate flower might find its way into the story. Their artistic journey is always intertwined with the presence of family and children\, who have grown up surrounded by both paintings and music. \nRafaele’s Website: https://www.rafaeleappleby.co.uk/ \nLunch in the Great Hall at Naworth is included. \nBOOK TICKETS HERE: https://www.trybooking.com/uk/Eoib

SUMMARY:Greg Spero's Spirit Fingers
DESCRIPTION:SPIRIT FINGERS (formally Polyrhythmic)\, is lead by pianist Greg Spero with Max Gerl on bass\, Mike Mitchell (aka Blaque Dynamite) on drums\, and Dario Chiazzolino on guitar.  Since its inception SPIRIT FINGERS has been a dynamic ensemble of uber-talented young musicians whose energy\, passion and innovative approach stake out exciting new territory for exploratory music which is visible on their self titled debut album released on March 16\, 2018 on Shanachie Entertainment. \n \nSpero’s ambition is powerfully manifested in SPIRIT FINGERS; as a pianist\, producer\, and bandleader\, Spero has explored various genres including jazz\, hip-hop\, modern classical music and pop\, he exhibits the tenacious pursuit and commitment to excellence that separate the journeymen from the pioneers.   \n \nThe 12-song disc showcases SPIRIT FINGERS as they concoct exploratory and evocative soundscapes that often combine the muscular virtuosity and rhythmic intricacies associated with the best of 70s jazz fusion (think George Duke\, Mahavishnu Orchestra\, Return to Forever\, and Weather Report) with some of today’s pop and hip-hop sensibilities (think The Weeknd\, Kendrick Lamar\, and Rihanna).   \n \nSPIRIT FINGERS is unique as each member of the band is an accomplished bandleader in their own right\, which lends to their live show which is a SPIRITED innovative improvisation unprecedented by other acts.   \nWebsite: https://www.gregspero.com/about
