SUMMARY:Communities Unearthed
DESCRIPTION:Communities Unearthed\nPhotography Exhibition | Dacre Hall\, Lanercost | 19–28 June 2026 \nAs part of Echo Festival 2026\, Echo Events Lanercost CIC is proud to present Communities Unearthed — a compelling new photography exhibition exploring the people\, places\, and stories that shape life in and around Lanercost. \nCurated by local photographer and filmmaker Thomas Keevil\, who lives and works within the Kin Hill Community in Walton\, the exhibition brings together three distinctive artistic voices. Alongside Keevil’s work\, photographers Molly Matcham and Charlotte Graham offer their own unique perspectives\, each capturing the character of the local landscape and its communities through a deeply personal lens. \nFrom intimate portraits to evocative scenes of rural life\, Communities Unearthed reveals the richness and diversity of this corner of Cumbria. The exhibition invites visitors to look closer — to see familiar surroundings anew\, and to reflect on the connections between people\, place\, and shared history. \nAlongside the main exhibition\, we are delighted to feature a special photography project by pupils from Lanercost C of E Primary School. Drawing on archival photographs and local history\, the project offers a younger generation’s perspective on the area\, connecting past and present through thoughtful and creative responses to the landscape they call home. \nThe exhibition opens at 5.30pm on Friday 19 June and runs until 5.00pm on Saturday 28 June. \nThroughout the week\, a welcoming café will be open in Dacre Hall\, with refreshments provided by Echo Eats Pop-Up\, creating a relaxed space for visitors to pause\, reflect\, and enjoy the exhibition. \nSet within the heart of the village\, this exhibition is both a celebration of local talent and a thoughtful exploration of community identity. Whether you live locally or are visiting for the festival\, Communities Unearthed offers a meaningful and visually engaging experience at the centre of Echo Festival 2026.

SUMMARY:Poetry Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Poetry Workshop\nAs part of Echo Festival Lanercost 2026\, join us for a relaxed and inspiring poetry workshop led by local poet David Bamford.\nThere are two categories of person on this planet: those who write poetry and those who don’t write poetry. They are separated by nothing more than a simple negative. All it takes to turn a non-writer of poetry into a writer of poetry is for that person to …. write poetry. \nHow easy is that? Come along to the Dacre Hall\, Lanercost at 10 a.m. on Saturday 20th June and spend a couple of hours and have some fun finding out. The workshop will be conducted by David Bamford\, one-time resident of Lanercost\, published and performance poet\, member of Brampton Poets and contributor to the anthologies published by the group. \nTaking place in the intimate setting of Dacre Hall Supper Room\, this session offers a chance to explore creativity through words\, whether you’re new to poetry or looking to develop your writing further. Guided by David’s experience and insight\, participants will be encouraged to reflect on place\, community\, and personal perspective — themes at the heart of this year’s festival. \nWith just 20 places available\, this workshop is designed to be small\, supportive\, and engaging. \nA café will be running in Dacre Hall throughout the day\, with refreshments available from Echo Eats Pop-Up\, making it easy to settle in\, take a break\, and enjoy the wider festival atmosphere. \nAdvance booking is essential. Places are free but donations are welcomed towards Echo Events CIC.To reserve your place\, please follow the booking link via TryBooking:https://www.trybooking.com/uk/GJKG \n
