Poetry Workshop

June 20 @ 10:00 am12:00 pm

Poetry Workshop

As part of Echo Festival Lanercost 2026, join us for a relaxed and inspiring poetry workshop led by local poet David Bamford.

There are two categories of person on this planet: those who write poetry and those who don’t write poetry. They are separated by nothing more than a simple negative. All it takes to turn a non-writer of poetry into a writer of poetry is for that person to …. write poetry.

How easy is that? Come along to the Dacre Hall, Lanercost at 10 a.m. on Saturday 20th June and spend a couple of hours and have some fun finding out. The workshop will be conducted by David Bamford, one-time resident of Lanercost, published and performance poet, member of Brampton Poets and contributor to the anthologies published by the group.

Taking place in the intimate setting of Dacre Hall Supper Room, this session offers a chance to explore creativity through words, whether you’re new to poetry or looking to develop your writing further. Guided by David’s experience and insight, participants will be encouraged to reflect on place, community, and personal perspective — themes at the heart of this year’s festival.

With just 20 places available, this workshop is designed to be small, supportive, and engaging.

A café will be running in Dacre Hall throughout the day, with refreshments available from Echo Eats Pop-Up, making it easy to settle in, take a break, and enjoy the wider festival atmosphere.

Advance booking is essential. Places are free but donations are welcomed towards Echo Events CIC.
